Screenwriter Jérôme Salle has in his directorial debut managed to put himself and his characters in the great tradition of French thrillers among names like Francois Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard and Jean-Pierre Melville. And it would be unfair not to mention Alfred Hitchcock. Accompanied by the classical soundtrack the camera slides gently and sensually over the caracters bodies and makes them and their dialogue alive. The outer landscape of the fashionable hotels and the luxurious villas along the forested slopes of the Cote d'Azur is just a hideout for all the underlying desperation. Behind the surface of this thrilling criminal story hides a beautiful but destructive love story that says: when you really love someone you should be prepared to offer your life for that love. And that is what keeps the main character and femme fatale Chiara moving in her search for Antohny Zimmer. She is played by Sophie Marceau and starts a journey across the French Riviera that will threaten the lives and everyone that crosses her path. All in the hope that she will meet the mysterious Zimmer one more time.KERSTIN ABRAHAMSSON
