Mikes lives in a shabby suburb to Prague, near the subway station Angel. While his friends make a living by stealing and dealing Christian icons, he spends most of his days trying not to fall back into drugs. A new neighbour, Jana, totally different from his friends, seems to offer a new way out. But an old junkie friend of his, Klára, intervenes. Mikes escapes with Klára to the south of Africa. Dimmed by drugs and hallucinations, they discover a seemingly unreal world. The couple invents a super drug, ''Czecho'', but trouble gets in their way to success and once again, Mikes tries to pull out, this time by returning to Angel, the one place he once ran from.
With shattered editing Michálek creates a story without apparent path. A film rich with symbols, Angel Exit is about escaping the demon within you. It was one of the most talked about films at this year's Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
