7–18 november 2012

A woman and a man meet when he walks in on her attempting suicide in a gay nightclub. She's looking for answers about men's horror of women's bodies, and offers him money to join her in a project which becomes both philosophic and hardcore. The meetings take place at night in her house and poses increasingly hard questions and dangerous answers.
Breillat returns in her tenth film to themes, paces and moods similar to those in Romance, for which she gained recognition in 1999. Just as then, Italian porn star Rocco Siffredi portrays one of the main characters.
The naked female body, the most used object in the history of art, is further explored
as the film puts its discussions into offensive visual practice.
Using the human flesh as litmus paper, the two nameless characters explore the system and order of sexuality, which connect women to subInission and men to violence. Sex and opinions confront each other in a frightening and fascinating power struggle. The result is a mix of feminist theory, body fluids, degradation and a dialogue with intellectual intensity. Breillat, filming her own book Pornocratie, has given her work the nerve, both of dystopia and forbidden curiosity.
