The private detective Lemmy Caution, as taken from a hard boiled detective
movie, arrives from the countries outside to Alphaville, a city set in a futuristic, cold and sterile Paris. Love is erased, there are no whys but only therefores, and non-adaptable people are exterminated. The dehumanized town is strictly controlled by the gigantic computer Alpha 60, created by the scientist Von Braun.

Love, with the help of the cool and beautiful Anna Karina, fights against frightening high technology and strict logical order which has succeeded in taking control over the humans. Alphaville is a dark science fiction, a pastiche on detective films, and an unusual lovestory, all tightly tied into one.
