According to the EFF - the Estonian Film Foundation - less than ten domestic features premiered in Estonia during 1995-2000. How many of those films that managed to premiere outside the country, the numbers doesn't tell. One film that did manage to cross the borders though is Marko Raat's feature film debut Agent Wild Duck. Hans, a.k.a. agent Wild Duck, is an old-school industrial spy working for a manipulations company. When the company hires a new project manager for the recent company project, principles and hierarchies in the company turns upside down. Hans, the company's former top agent, gets put aside at work, and the new leader's arrival even causes changes in Hans' personal life. Something has to be done. Peter Aalbaek Jensen (Zentropa) has co-produced Agent WiId Duck, and I dare to say that th is fact has left its traces since a film like this has never before been produced in eastern Europe. Raat has left nothing to chance. Everything is extremely stylish, and it's easily noticed that the director previously has been involved in several art projects. This debut film is an eastern European art film with a Hollywood surface, and it works. It really works. NIKLAS MATSSON
