Adrenaline Drive

The meek and mild Suzuki, who works in a car rental agency, bumps accidentally into a yakuza. He is forced to follow him to his refuge and, just when he is going to get his fingers broken by his tormentor, the whole place explodes. At the same time Shizuko, a plain nurse, is harassed by her colleagues at the hospital. She escapes to a grocery shop where she reads the horoscope and dreams of her new self.Ando Masanobu and Ishida Hikari, who are Japan’s most popular young actors at the moment, play the principal parts. Yaguchi Shinobu has been described as the Japanese master of ”deadpan comedy”. With a mixture of clever and dry humour and sardonic comments on society, Adrenaline Drive is a different and thrilling story about modern Japan. The speed increases gradually and the absurdity of the situations is balanced with a moderate portion of normality.
