Acts of Worship

The streets of Manhattan, like an office landscape of junkies where young Alix works as one of the messengers. One night she overdoses, and her boyfriend drags her out of the apartment, leaving her in the hallway. Photographer and neighbour Digna comes to her aid and helps Alix in sobering up. Soon they develop a closer bond to each other.

Rodriguez fought for many years in trying to get her autobiographical movie into production. With an obvious knowledge of the ''Lower'' East Side and all of its alleys and dead ends, she creates an almost documentary feel in telling the story. Reeder's portrait of troublesome Alix contributes to the heavy dose of realism.
