The Absence

Four people are walking in imaginary landscapes. They are escaping from their everyday lives. Each of the embark on the journey alone, but they meet and become a group, an expedition of sorts.
Suddenly they travel over a field, through a city, a desert or ocean. They all have a longing that drives them inwards. The story is told through their discourses, memories, dreams and monologues. One day the old man who led the group disappears. What is left is the search and the dream of finding him again.

Comment:
Maybe ''The Absence'' is a remake. But of what? L'avventura? Tokyo Monogotari? The Milky Way? Falsche Bewegung? The Searchers? Or maybe the story has actually never been told, maybe The Absence is a totally new story - about today for tomorrow. In any case, I had to tell it - in the form of a film. It seemed essential to me, and besides, it promised to be a beautiful game.
