A Day Out is a scary reflection of the hard life at a Korean military camp. Not unlike Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket it shows how the mechanisms of violence can be born and bread within the military system. The main character is an insecure, sexually inexperienced young man, whose dreams and fantasies are mixed with reality. In a dreamy, or rather nightmarish, way, the film shows how the military camp’s penalizing can lead to total destruction.PER NYSTRÖM
