17 -year-old virgin Tien is a good boy who believes in love. Arriving in Taipei to spend a thrilling summer, he discovers that the city has something more to offer him than big neon lights and gay discos; other boys. Then Bai, a real looker and the biggest playboy in universe, enters his life. Tien falls in love, much to the discomfort of his concerned friends. As the relationship grows, Tien is confronted with new disturbing sides of Bai's personality.
Is it really possible for such a young female director to have this insight in the erotic life of gay men? Hot shot director DJ Chen knows
her topic well, filling her charIning film with narration both in flashbacks and in erotic dreams. There is underwater sex, intimate dialogues, internet dating, therapy, and a cast looking like a Taiwanese Fab 5. Not to mention the Asian pop music on the soundtrack. To back up this seemingly everyday love story is a dark psychological conflict with almost mythical proportions. The result is a film like Wong Kar-wai's Happy Together, but with a romantic touch. Don't miss the end credits for some bonus scenes which add to the entity of the film.
