In his first feature, Jean-Pascal Hattu tackles an unusual love triangle. The title refers to the time Vincent has been sentenced to serve in jail - a sentence that seems like an eternity for his wife, Maite. Her regular trips to the prison only serve as frustration for both of them. One day she meets the charming prison guard Jean. At first his advances put Maite off, but eventually she becomes attracted to him. As their relationship becomes intimate, Jean starts recording elements of their encounters, like the sounds of Maite’s orgasms. It seems like he has a hidden agenda. 7 Years is the story of a woman who loses herself between the man she loves and the man who makes love to her. Hattu has written short and simple scenes where silence is more meaningful than words. With the camera fixed on gestures and postures, the images replace a dialogue that could not be able to express the true, pure elements of physical attraction. PONTUS MATHISSON
