Summer Cinema - Stockholms filmfestival

Summer Cinema 2011 takes place in Rålambshovsparken between 15-19 August. The films start at 8.30 pm but around 6 pm the park starts to fill with film lovers and picnic baskets.

In the summer of 2011 we screened:

Wednesday 17/8: Once

Taking place on the streets of Dublin, John Carney's singer/songerwriter-musical portraits the love, and music, that occurs when a young Czech woman meets a busker dreaming of a music career.

Thursday 18/8: Black Swan

Darren Aronofsky's brilliant portrait of a ballerina on the verge of mental breakdown. Natalie Portman won an Academy Award for the leading role as Nina.

Friday 19/8: Buena Vista Social Club

This beloved documentary by Wim Wenders made the Cuban rhythms known worldwide by telling the story of the return of some of Cuba's most legendary musicians.

Saturday 20/8: Ebba the Movie

Documentary from 1982 by Johan Donner about legendary Swedish punk rockers Ebba Grön. We follow the band on stage, in the studio and as they tell us about their background.

Sunday 21/8: 2 Steps from Håkan

A new film about Swedish pop icon Håkan Hellström that portraits both him as a musician, and the mystique and idol culture that surrounds him. Directed by Torbjörn Martin, John Boisen and Björn Fävremark.
