Stockholm International Film Festival presents this years’ Stockholm Rising Star nominees

For the eleventh year in a row, Stockholm International Film Festival is proud to nominate new talented Swedish actors to Stockholm Rising Star. The award is given to a young Swedish actor or actress who, through splendid performances on the silver screen, has shown true potential to become a big star in the future. Among this years’ nominees, Albin Grenholm (Swoon, 2019) and Celie Sparre (Lyckligare kan ingen vara, 2018) are announced. 
                     
The purpose of Stockholm Rising Star is to highlight new talented actors and give them the opportunity to expand their network and meet new people in the film industry. Previous recipients of the award are Alicia Vikander, Filip Berg, Adam Lundgren and Alba August that got the award last year. Now it’s time for a new star to be born.  

This years’ Stockholm Rising Star nominees are: 
Albin Grenholm (Swoon, 2019 and Rosa moln 2018)  
Emelie Garbers (Aniara, 2018) 
Arvin Kananian (Aniara, 2018 and The Unthinkable, 2018)  
Celie Sparre (Lyckligare kan ingen vara, 2018 and In i dimman 2018) 
Freddy Åsblom (In i dimman, 2018)

ARVIN KANANIAN 
Arvin Kananian graduated as an actor in London. After graduation he has been in several productions including, Den blomstertid nu kommer, Måste gitt, Bonusfamiljen and Beck to mention a few. Arvin's characterization of Captain Chefone in the movie Aniara received lots of attention and fine reviews in both Sweden and abroad.

CELIE SPARRE  

Celie Sparre got her big break with the role of Iris in the tv-series Syrror. Most recently we have seen her in the role of Maria in the feature film Lyckligare kan ingen vara, directed by Staffan Lindberg and in the role of Kicki in the feature film In i dimman directed by Anders Hazelius. Celie Sparre has also starred in the tv-series Älska mig, Dirigenten, Ingen Utan Skuld and Maria Wern. 
  
ALBIN GRENHOLM 

Actor Albin Grenholm studied at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. Albin Grenholm got his big breakthrough 2016 in the role of Kimmo in the Swedish-French co-production Midnattssol, directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. Albin has also been seen in Beck and the series Äkta människor, the humor series Leif & Billy on SVT Play and the feature film Rosa Moln directed by Alexis Almström. 
Most recently we have seen Albin Grenholm in the lead role as John Lindgren in the feature film Eld & Lågor directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. We can soon see him in the series Fartblinda, the upcoming series Kalifat and the feature films Bergman Island directed by Mia Hansen-Löve and The Spy directed by Jens Jonsson. 

EMELIE GARBERS
Emelie Garbers, formerly Jonsson has starred in several films and series since she first appeared on the movie screen as Lotta in Lasermannen. Since then she has participated in several films and tv series including Call Girl, Gentlemen, Min hemlighet and most recently Aniara that gave her the award Best Actress at Les Arcs European Film Festival 2019.

FREDDY ÅSBLOM
Freddy Åsblom started his acting career at Södra Latin’s Aesthetics program and graduated from Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts 2013. Since his graduation Freddy has been seen in several theatre productions, for example Galeasen amongst others and in several tv and film productions.
His performance in In i dimman has received great appreciation, and we can soon see him in the mini series Tsunami at SVT, fall 2019.
