The 16 year old boy Tiuri wants to follow in his fathers foot steps and become a bright and shining knight. To do that he just has to pass one test, which is to stand guard one night in the castles chapel without opening the door or talking to someone. But during his watching hours he is disturbed by a wounded soldier who asks him to pass an important letter to the king of Unauwen on to the next sender in line, which is another soldier waiting in the nearby forest. Tiuri agrees and heads on with the letter, only to find the waiting soldier dead in his post. Our brave Tiuri realizes he has to give the letter to the king himself and embarks on a long, exciting journey through deep forests and snow covered mountains and on a path where you amongst other things find yourself and realizes what responsibility is all about.
