DUNYA & DESIE tells the story about two girls who are best friends. Both 18 years old and living in Amsterdam, but the similarities ends there, because Desie is the daring, provocative type while Dunya is more low key, coming from a conservative family. One day Dunya finds out that she is going with them to see her relatives in Marocko who are going to arrange her to be married off. At the same time Desie takes a test and realizes she's pregnant. Desperately needing her best friend and having a multitude of questions to unravel, Desie goes after her to Marocko, a not so pleasant surprise for Dunyas relatives. There they have to deal with both cultural clashes and difficult life style choices. The situation at hand brings Dunya and Desie eloping on a road trip, searching for truth as well as someone's lost and longed for father.
