Diego is horny. Molly is an American tourist. In the year of Diego’s infected toenail theymeet in Mexico City and a problematic lovestory commences. Diego is only 14 and theolder Molly is a gringa on vacation. But Diego’sresourcefulness will not let some petty culturaldifferences get in his way. He tries his best towin Molly’s interest and we get to listen toboth of their amusing inner monologues. Shesees his attempts as merely cute and wouldconsider herself a cradle-robber if she ever fellfor them.Director Jonás Cuarón spent 2004photographing his surroundings, everythingfrom everyday activities to hospital visits andstray cats. Then he put all the images togethercreating a sort of photo-album-movie. Thecharacters depicted in this film are real, although the story is fictional. In fact, Molly(Eireann Harper) is Cuaróns girlfriend and Diegohis half-brother, adding tension to the fictionalstory. Behind the images is just as interestingas the fictional one.
