Delayed at the airport, William Vincent misses his return flight to New York. While traveling the whole distance by bus he learns that the airplane crashed into a mountain, leaving nothing but burnt corpses impossible to identify. He has survived the crash of an airplane he never entered and now finds himself in a metaphysical limbo between life and death.
He spends his days in solitude, editing nature videos in his dark apartment on Manhattan. One day he steals the wallet of a rich businessman and finds himself drawn into a film-noiresque love triangle consisting of himself, a modern femme fatale and a ruthless criminal kingpin.
The film is slow paced yet engaging with its intense symbolic photography and confusing narrative structure. It is as hardboiled and stylish like a Raymond Chandler novel, yet modern and catchy like a 2010 pop tune.
