W.

by Oliver Stone

George W. Bush was elected the forty-third President of the United States of America after a disputatious election in November 2000. Eight years down the line, after the September 11 terror attacks, President Bush has declared a double-edged war on global terror, while getting the US armed forces stuck in a seemingly endless conflict in Iraq.

Politically charged director Oliver Stone’s "W." is a dark and controversial, yet comical, movie about Bush's rise to power. But it is not an entirely unsympathetic portrait. The key issue is to understand how a hard-partying, college dropout coke fiend could become the leader of the world’s last remaining superpower. It is also a study of the infected relationship between a son and his father; in this case the father being former President George H.W. Bush. One of Bush The Second’s most difficult tasks has always been the struggle to step out of his father’s shadow.

"W." is set as a witty satire, a "Dr. Strangelove" for the new millennium. Except, this time it is a true story.
