The Man With 150 000 USD Prize On His Head

The Man With 150 000 USD Prize On His Head

by Una Celma

Sculptor, art professor and State Secretary of his own tiny country Ladonia, Lars Vilks provoked Muslims all over the world when the Swedish newspaper "Nerikes Allehanda" published his drawing portraying the prophet Mohammed in 2007.

Una Celma's documentary is a tight close-up of the controversial Swedish/Latvian artist. This is a skillfully composed portrait; Celma is an efficient depictor and in addition to describing the man Lars Vilks and his art, she poses some well-deserved questions about the worth of creativity and intellectual provocation.
