In this unique road movie through the Balkans, director Mladen Djordjevic turns to fiction to,once again, explore the Balkan porn industry- as he did in his controversial documentary,MADE IN SERBIA .
In the city of Belgrade, a young, unsuccessfuldirector named Marko forms a porn cabaretand starts touring the countryside performinguncensored sex on stage. The stars of his littleentourage include gay lovers dying of AIDS andan obese would-be manicurist. Meanwhile,Marko records their journey with a handheldcamera, narrating their story. Starting out as apitch-black and somewhat-absurd comedy, THELIFE AND DEATH OF A PORNO GANG quicklydives deeper into uncontrollable darkness asa German war journalist turned snuff-movieproducer takes an interest in the group.
While it might not be easy to decide whichgenre to ascribe THE LIFE AND DEATH OF APORNO GANG, one thing is for sure; Djordjevic’sfilm forms a unit of sex and violence one cannotpossibly be unaffected by – above all not in thepolitical context of post Milosevic-society.
