Spike Jonze collaborated with the band Arcade Fire to make this short, inspired by their album »The Suburbs«. Throughout the film the narrator tries to piece together his memories of growing up in an American suburb during wartime. He and his friends experience everything from carefree happiness to the loss of innocence and finally the pain of slowly growing apart. As the narrator’s memories are fragmented – so is the film. »Scenes from the Suburbs« distinguishes between different memories by cutting to black frames, which represents the narrator’s frustration over his own oblivion.
