Yusuf and his son Ido live in a remote Turkish mountain village. Life is hard. Every day Yusuf walks great lengths to sell branches to the people of the community, and Ido’s birthday is celebrated with fried potatoes. The construction of a nearby dam infuses the tiny family with hope of a better future, as well as fear of a possible threat to the small town.
This crystalline work of fiction, with breathtaking photography and an ensemble of taciturn characters, is an impressive short film debut from young director Eileen Hofer.
