In 1983, beautiful twin couple Mark and AlexFarley is born into the world three minutes apartin Missoula, Montana. The boys’ parents, Jennyand Scott, assign them two distinct colors:red for Mark and blue for Alex. The twins areinseparable, forever united mirror-images,needing only each other. Together they skipschool, use drugs and retreat deeper into aprivate world that only has room for the two ofthem. After a failed joint-suicide attempt, thetwins are sent to rehab and separate boardingschools for two years. During the periodapart, Alex slowly begins the metamorphosisinto Claire. The documentary examines whathappens when the unique bond of twinshipis challenged by the concept of gendertransformation. Through family Super-8 footageand extensive interviews made during a period of three years, the film portrays a family in deepcrisis and, in time, a family that overcomes andstarts anew.
