Paradise

Paradise

by Jesse Rosensweet

In a perfect suburb a perfect new day breaks, as normal but perfect as all other, Husband and wife set the day in motion, exactly in the same way as yesterday. She is preparing the ham and egg, he is happily waiting for his breakfast. All is safe, secure and pure.In this micro landscape of everyday society we take a peek inside one of a million houses, following the routines of life. Making fun of a scary perfectness that makes us all soulless, the film itself is nothing but a prccisely executed presentation of immaculate filmmaking. Rosensweets choice off animation with metalic mechanics and children’s gadgets establishes a well known familiar look of the fifties. Paradise is a toy museum coming to life in bright colors. Here the seemingly easy and light spirited air in the dialogue, just like the ironic title, only further underscores our pointless lives without spontanity and surprises. With the main characters emotionally shut inside of themselves, Paradise is the perfect way to open your eyes.
