Björne Larson’s second adaptation of a Swedish short story, this time by Hjalmar Söderberg, takes us back in time to a winter night in 19th century Stockholm. Filmed at the Stockholm City Museum, The Fur possesses a fascinating eye for details.
Gustav, a weak man, has had a terrible year; so bad he has to ask his friend for money to afford a Christmas gift for his wife. Not only is he granted a loan, but his friend also insists that Gustav borrow a fur coat to wear on the way home. The coat gives him an unexpected feeling of self-esteem. He is soon to discover that it has even more to offer.
