All you need is talent, but sometimes youneed more. “Operation Filmmaker” is both theresulting documentary and the story of howfilmmaker Nina Davenport is hired to documentthe experience of the young Iraqi filmmakerMuthana, who gets the opportunity to intern onthe American feature “Everything is Illuminated”being shot in the Czech Republic. But the greatprospect does not turn out as a sunshine story.Muthana has big filmmaker plans but doesn’tlike the place he is given in the production. Heis frustrated with his tasks and doesn’t own upto his responsibilities. He soon clashes with thefilmcrew. Additionally, his opinion about GeorgeBush differs radically from the liberal producer’s.When Muthana’s internship is over, Davenportkeeps filming and assists him in his attemptsto stay abroad. As their relationship gets more and more personal, the border between subjectand observer completely disappears. This is adocumentary about new filmmakers’ eagernessto create and the actual film business reality, where nothing goes as planned, and no onecontrols the story but life itself.
