7–18 november 2012

Eight-year-old Joe is having a miserable birthday.Bullied by his classmates, he hides away in the sickbay where he curls up and falls asleep. When hewakes up, everyone seems to have disappeared.
Luke Doolan’s short film offers an ambiguouslook at the complexities of childhood. Flawlesslyshifting tonal registers, what starts out as anarrative about a troubled child soon morphs intoa haunting piece with hints of the supernatural. It ends with stark brutality as Joe discovers thathe is not completely alone after all.
