There is a thin line between genius andinsanity, which actor James (Harry Osborne in“Spiderman”) Franco shows in his self-directedand co-written feature. He stars as one of twointellectually gifted brothers who embark onseparate paths in life: one struggling with aheavy heroin addiction, the other one facinga bright future as a successful doctor. Thedrug-addict Max (Franco) – who has a talentfor screwing up and disappointing those aroundhim – fails to hustle a big shot drug dealer anddesperately persuades his brother Adam to takehim along on his trip to California. AlthoughMax fast talks his way into a computer firm andpromises to go straight, he soon falls back intohis addiction and drags his brother down withhim on a drug-fueled road to destruction. JamesFranco, also seen at Stockholm’s Film Festival starring in “An American Crime” and “In theValley of Elah”, blends crisp stylish cameraworkwith homemade DV-footage and tasteful indiemusicin his third project, which is dedicated tohis brother.
