A routine day for policeman Ze turns into anightmare when he finds himself caught up in ahostage situation in one of Rio de Janeiro's moreexclusive neighborhoods. The situation soon getsout of hand, ending in an accidental killing.
Director Eudordo Valente takes us on adizzying trip both forwards and backwards intime, exploring the ramifications of the shootingin three seemingly unconnected storylines- knitting together the why, the how and therepercussions of the event. The first storylineconcerns the love affair between a housekeeperand a young deliveryman. The second depicts thegrief of the dead man's family, while the final parttells the story of Ze and his daughter.
This melting pot of dilemmas may sound like amess - but it's not. Instead, EYE OF THE STORMis a mind-bending puzzle of disparate events inthe same vein as Alejandro González Iñárritu'scritically acclaimed AMORES PERROS. Valenteuses an unrelentingly creeping pace, remindingus that the past is very much part of the present - unless one is ready to let it go.
