Death is not only a question of when, but of how.DANSE MACABRE offers a spellbinding depictionof the last twist and turns of the human body.Pires’ vision is both brutal and peaceful ashe follows a naked body’s journey to the end ofthe line in a beautifully choreographed one-manballet. It might look macabre; however, on anemotional level it’s more thought provoking thanoff-putting. Pires uses the spasms of lifelessflesh to explore the question of whether theseseemingly erratic motions might not in fact echothe chaotic twists and turns of a past life.
