Cross - Country

Not many words are spoken in »Cross« but a lot is said beneath the surface of the pale forest that make up the staging area for some very gruesome events. The director Maryna Vroda has drawn from her own memories of physical education sessions of her youth, but also from everyday thoughts of why we do what we do and why the world is as it is. Winning the Golden Palm for best short film in Cannes also helped Vroda move Ukraine towards the international film spotlight; »Cross« is the second Ukranian film to ever win this prize.
