Blood Appears depicts the transformation of taxi driver Arturo, a quiet family man struggling to make ends meet. It all starts with a phone call from his oldest son Ramiro, pleading for urgent help and a large sum of money to get him out of a sticky situation. But both Arturo’s wife and his youngest son Leandro, a leather-clad dope fiend who prowls the boiling urban concrete, have their own plans for the family savings. The confrontation between Arturo and Leandro is violent and, as the title states, blood does appear.
Argentinean director Pablo Fendrik has created a gripping portrait, set in the streets of Buenos Aires. A man who is willing to do anything for his loved ones, ends up becoming their worst enemy. Full of unspoken words and deep emotional wounds, Blood Appears raises questions about morality, greed and human weakness. Fendrik shows that his highly praised debut The Mugger (2007) was not a one-off event.
