Before The Fall

Before The Fall

by F. Javier Gutiérrez

In three days, a meteorite will collide with earth and exterminate all life. Awaiting its final doom, society is in upheaval with death and despair ravaging the cities of the world. Ale, a frustrated young man, decides to spend his last days drinking and listening to music in the isolated Spanish town of Laguna. These plans suddenly change when he has to protect his brother’s children, who are threatened by a disturbing stranger. Madness and violence ensues. On the surface this is an apocalypse movie, but in reality it is a hypnotic mix of thriller, science-fiction, drama, fantasy and terror. Before the Fall is a shattering portrait of a family on the verge of destruction, draped in sadness as well as beauty.

Francisco Javier Gutiérrez’ Antonio Banderas-produced debut has already caused a buzz. Gutiérrez never hesitates when it comes to portraying violence in a gruesome, realistic way, and some sequences might be too intense even for the most experienced viewer.
