Under house arrest and confined to his flat ina scummy council estate, Mauro passes timetattooing himself. With little or no contact withthe outside world, his days are spent in extrememundanity. He is ignored by his uncooperativeneighbors and taunted by the local kids.

Set mainly in Mauro’s apartment, ARENAreflects on the tensions within the unremarkableand the routine as well as on what happens whenothers invade these very private moments. AR ENAwas awarded the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film atthis year’s Cannes International Film Festival.
