“In Truth, an Incredible Lie” is the original titleof this controversial hard-core mockumentaryabout the fictional assassination of Danishright-wing prime minister Anders FoghRasmussen. The story develops throughmake-believe interviews with family, friendsand colleagues. From them, we learn aboutRasmussen’s persona, achievements, andpolitical misjudgments – as well as a difficultand passionate love story. On the flip side,Morten Hartz Kaplers tells the self-destructivelife story of the “assassinator” – a radicaldruggie named Emil, played by the directorhimself. Spiced with well-cut authentic and fauxarchival footage, the film is a thought-provokingpiece about contemporary life in a democraticsociety, with its main focus on love, powerand freedom. “AFR” is a small wink to “JFK”, another conspiracy driven film with a common, but obviously, more veracious theme.
