In his second feature film, writer and director Pablo Agüero intertwines the delicate story of two strangers in a Paris apartment with sprawling dream sequences that take place somewhere in the Argentine desert.

The film begins when a mysterious man named Jose has just absconded, leaving his French wife, Anne, alone and pregnant. But when Jose’s disarmingly frank grandfather, Francisco, appears at her door, she has no choice but to take him in. The odd-couple pairing puts the 86-year-old bohemian Francisco against the forsaken Anne, who is about to give birth at any moment. Their chamber-film scenes together are interspersed with Francisco’s dreams, in which he gives refuge to a young girl. Francisco’s dreamlike character of a Good Samaritan eventually translates into real life, caring for Anne and her unborn child.

The desert dream sequences – filmed by Agüero ten years ago – open up the film to a world beyond Anna’s tiny apartment, while non-professional actors Chrétien and Moron lend an understated energy to this film about two lost souls finding unexpected solace in each other.
