Zagros is a young shepherd in a Kurdish village living with his pregnant wife, Havin, and their nine-year-old daughter. One day, Zagros' father accuses Havin of adultery, saying that the child she is expecting isn’t Zagros’s. Scared for her life, Havin flees with their daughter to Belgium. Zagros dismisses the accusations and joins them, convinced of a bright future and of his wife’s innocence.
When Zagros’ father joins them in Belgium, however, he continues to plant toxic seeds of doubt that become increasingly hard for Zagros to shake. The story develops into a compelling drama of one man’s struggle between his loyalty to traditional family values and the embracing of a modern lifestyle. Intensely shot with a mostly hand-held camera, »Zagros« reaches the audience with its powerful depiction of the intrinsic psychological and cultural challenges of migration.
