Revisiting the magical Coney Island of his childhood, Woody Allen makes yet another evocative trip down memory lane with his latest film, »Wonder Wheel«. Set in 1950, the story revolves around the complicated lives and relationships of the extended family of Ginny, played by Oscar winner Kate Winslet. With themes such as love, artistic aspirations and the capriciousness of luck, the film is played out against the colorful backdrop of New York’s legendary amusement park.

Teaming up with the master cinematographer Vittorio Storaro (»Apocalypse Now«, »The Conformist«), Allen presents an explosion of color and nostalgic set-design reminiscent of his likewise period set »Radio Days« from 1987. Full of emotional turmoil, »Wonder Wheel« explores Allen’s dramatic side and includes riveting performances by Winslet, Jim Belushi and Justin Timberlake. With its expressive cinematography and tight script, the film is a love letter to classical Hollywood films and provides another addition to Allen’s astonishing oeuvre.
