With »Final Portrait«, Stanley Tucci delivers a unique take on the biopic. Instead of trying to depict the whole life of artist Alberto Giacometti, he focuses on a few weeks in 1964. Thus, the film gets very close to the artist, presenting a sensitive yet uncompromising portrait.

Giacometti invites the American art critic and admirer John Lord to sit for a portrait in Paris. He promises the session will only take a couple of hours but days go by during which the artist proclaims his painterly agony, unable or unwilling to finish the work. During these extended sessions a peculiar bond of friendship and rivalry develops between the two men.

Featuring a stellar cast with Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush as the cranky and complicated artist and Armie Hammer as his charming counterpart, »Final Portrait« boasts brilliant production design, witty dialogue and fluid camerawork, resulting in a fully realized vision of a legendary artist.
