Louise Osmond is a British documentary director and former journalist. She graduated from Oxford University with a degree in modern history. Her 2015 film »Dark Horse« was awarded the International Documentary Audience Award at Sundance.
Granted access to the set of »I, Daniel Blake«, filmmaker Louise Osmond seized the opportunity to make a candid, no holds barred account of the career of one of Britain’s most compassionate, soft spoken and socially aware firebrands as he enters his 80th year. The resulting 93 minutes is a glorious, warm-hearted homage to the veteran filmmaker Ken Loach.
Filmed as an intimate series of talking heads - the main body of interviews coming from Loach’s family and long-time collaborators - »Verses: The Life and Films of Ken Loach« offers up a delicious glimpse into the director’s career. From his game-changing early days at the BBC to the release of his 50th film this year, Osmond diligently and honestly charts all of his creative triumphs and near misses - the tragedy, the triumph, the politics - and in doing so she pays worthy tribute to a man whose work, and whose anger, continues to burn as brightly as it ever did.
