The documentary »Raving Iran« takes the audience on an odyssey with two young DJs - Anoosh and Arash - who are at the center of Tehran’s underground techno scene. The duo are extremely passionate about dance music but are tired of having to hide from the police and the effect the regime is having on their stagnating careers. In a bid for change they organize one final techno rave in the middle of the Iranian desert and under extremely dangerous circumstances.

The Iranian government has, amongst many other things, banned Western music, leading to cultural oppression in the country. A phone-call from the organizers of the biggest techno festival in Switzerland elevates the boys spirits for a while, only to for the feeling to dissipate when they realize the lengths they must go to in order to leave the country. Enlisting the help of the mafia to leave Iran illegally is ridiculously expensive but this is where the journey for the two boys truly begins.
