Widow Ruth is seven months pregnant when, believing herself to be guided by her unborn baby, she embarks on a homicidal rampage, dispatching anyone who stands in her way. »Prevenge« is a deliciously black comedy that combines maternity and murder to challenge the pre-established near-fetishism of pregnancy and motherhood. Brilliantly, as the murders begin to escalate, Ruth remains out of suspicion, concealed by her pregnancy - a merciless killer, hiding in plain sight.

Arrestingly vivid, »Prevenge«, in which she also stars, is writer/director Lowe’s debut feature. Lowe was over seven months pregnant at the time of filming and the resulting film is a humorous reflection on the fears surrounding pregnancy and impending motherhood told from a woman’s perspective; a rift on the established prenatal narrative twisted into a magnificently macabre yet hilariously refreshing tale of murder, motherhood and morning sickness.
