Over a decade after the event, the Athenian Olympic Village has become a ghost town - only resident to the few working class families offered affordable housing there. Over the course of one scorching summer, a gang of local teenagers occupy the abandoned sports park, turning it into a world of make-believe. They stage mock tournaments, organize dog mating and even manage to find love amongst the ruins. But growing up next to the Olympic park and the specter of its former glory has defined them, creating a hunger that is so intense that their games become increasingly ugly and violent. After all, if you have nothing, you have nothing to lose.

Exarchou’s effortless use of the hand-held close-up and a plentitude of improvised scenes catapults the viewer into a sinuous world filled with dust, sweat and struggle. The result is a compelling depiction of a society that has fallen between the gaps and a youth that have to learn to climb back out again.
