Based on the experience of a real couple, »Ordinary People« follows 16 year-old Jane and her boyfriend Aries, street-kids living in the bustling Filipino metropolis of Manila who pick-pockets for a living and sniff-glue from a plastic bag to make their hard-life a little more bearable. When Jane has a baby, she adapts to the idea of being a mother. Karma catches up with them however, when a transsexual woman steals their month-old baby Arjan in order to sell him to a childless couple and Aries and Jane are forced to scour the neon-lit streets in the hope of finding him before it’s too late.

Telling their story with real integrity, Roy gives truthful insight into the grimy rawness of Manila’s street life and the all too common baby-snatching problem. Soberingly, at one point, Aries wonders if Arjan wouldn’t be better off with other parents. Jane is undaunted and determined; Arjan is her beacon of hope in an otherwise cruel world.
