Few could have expected that timid OCD-diagnosed 26-year-old Matthew VanDyke would leave his girlfriend and native Baltimore to embark on a 35,000-mile motorcycle trip through Northern Africa and the Middle East. In search of adventure and a “crash course in manhood,” he documents his travels with his video camera. After deciding to work as a freelance war correspondent in Iraq and receiving basic combat training from American soldiers, Matthew makes friends in Libya. From previously only wielding a camera, Matthew takes up arms against the oppressive Gaddafi-regime as the Arab Spring erupts. Fighting alongside his new friends and documenting the revolution ultimately leads to his capture at which point he is held in solitary confinement and must decide if his newly found calling is really worth sacrificing himself for.

Directed by two-time Academy Award nominated director Marshall Curry and winner of the Best Documentary Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, »Point and Shoot« tells the extraordinary story of a young man’s quest for adventure and personal transformation.
