The year is 1985 and Rad Miracle, a shy 13-year old white boy obsessed with hip-hop and ping-pong, is on an annual summer trip in Ocean City, Maryland with his family. In true eighties coming-of-age style, he meets a new best friend and falls in love, while also becoming the target of the local rich kid bully who, to humiliate him, challenges Rad to a ping-pong match of epic proportions. To help him get the courage to win the match and get the girl, he receives a helping hand from the reclusive neighbor next door. Inspired by the works of John Hughes and John Landis, and perhaps most of all »Karate Kid«, writer and director Michael Tully has left no stone unturned when creating his version of the eighties coming-of-age comedy. He even insists to shoot on super-16 film to remain as faithful as possible to the colors and texture of the period. With a cast including Susan Sarandon and 80s star Lea Thompson and a soundtrack appropriate to the decade, »Ping Pong Summer« is set to bring out the eighties nostalgia in anyone.
