Based on real-life events and people, »Xingu« is an epic tale of three Brazilian brothers who in 1943 enter the Xingu jungle with a thirst for adventure. Their mission is to build roads and an airfield in the unoccupied central parts of the country, but they soon stumble upon a local Xingu tribe. Curiosity overcomes animosity and the two groups become friends. It is clear however, that the tribe is sensitive towards modern life and illnesses when a flu wipes out a large portion of the tribesmen. The brothers decide to attempt an almost impossible feat – to continue their infrastructure project and at the same time protect the tribe from the outside world. Their passion and determination becomes the tribe’s largest safety net and at the same time their biggest threat, creating a nervous tension throughout the picture.

Director cao hamburger and cinematographer Adriano Goldman shot the film on location in the Xingu forest and the breathtaking landscapes are a testament to how beautiful yet fragile this world can be.
