PUNK LEGEND JOAKIM Thåström is an institution in Swedish music history, an uncompromising and unwilling rock star with a stage presence out of this world. The documentary focuses on the artist himself, on and around a praised live concert at the 2011 Way Out West- festival in Gothenburg. At the concert, the intensity of Thåström’s performance comes alive with intimate camera work that captures the festival highlight and aims to get close to the music as well as the show.

AS WITH LEGENDARY punk rock group Ebba Grön (whose unexpected one-night reunion was filmed by Hellström in the Joe Strummer tribute concert film »Roots Rock Rebel« from 2005) in the late 1970’s, Thåström still fully brings a concert to life.

THÅSTRÖM IS KNOWN for avoiding in-depth interviews. Here, however, Anders “Balsam” Hellström with help of fellow filmmaker Ülkü Holago, manages to sit down with Thåström, letting him speak his mind on issues surrounding an almost 35 year long music career.
