Could there be anything like a postmodern rock star? The time of influential pop heroes such as David Bowie and Talking Heads have passed, but indeed the idea of euphoric togetherness in the concert hall will be pushed on. The reflective dance- rock band LCD Soundsystem, with front man James Murphy, started out ten years ago but decided to close down the business last spring. With a packed Madison Square Garden dancing their feet off and appearances from members of Arcade Fire among others, LCD Soundsystem closed their career with a memorable show in April, 2011.

Besides loads of live footage, the film also handles the dilemmas of James Murphy, who is a 40-something rock star living in perfect harmony with our contemporary age of nostalgia but feels unable to truly communicate over the generation gap. We get to follow the last 48 hours of a band whose breakthrough hit “Losing my Edge” finishes with the line “I'm losing my edge to better-looking people with better ideas and more talent”.
