Amanda is a depressed young woman without a stable job, living alone in an apartment. Her days pass in the same calm and orderly fashion, while the nights are spent with different lovers, as she cannot sleep alone. This fragile balance is disturbed by a phone call and Amanda is suddenly forced to take care of her alcoholic grandmother, a retired actress suffering from Alzheimer’s and living on selective memories of her glory days. Even in her grandmother’s most confused moments, she shows a sharp grasp of Amanda’s character. Grandmother and granddaughter find the time spent together gradually rewarding, as a tender empathy begins to grow between them.

Through gentLe, wordLess moments the characters are revealed in this quietly unconventional film. This semi-biographical debut feature by Natalia Beristáin speaks about what it means to grow old and tries to find an answer to the question: “Where does age lie; in the skin or within the heart?”
